Let the world walk the talk in helping millions of people suffering and face the prospect of famine in the Tigray region, calls the head of the Norwegian Refugee Council, an aid agency active helping Eritrean refugees in Tigray.

"The hope today is we stop the talk and start the operation," said Jan Egeland, chief of the Norwegian Refugee Council.
Over 220 days after the start of a civil war in Tigray, Egeland called for a ceasefire, unimpeded access to humanitarian operations, and increased funding from donor countries.
"We're underfunded and overstretched," said Egeland. "I just want to see the Security Council act as a security council."
Egeland, alongside Pramila Patten, chief of the UN on issues of sexual violence, was one of the panellists on the virtual meeting held by the EU Commission today, ahead of the G7 leaders' summit. "I want us to be allowed to go to every part of Tigray and stay there; enable us to do our work," said Egeland.
