Dec 26 , 2020

A board of trustees for the Endowment Fund for the Rehabilitation of Tigray (EFFORT) has been established to address gaps created by the lack of leadership. The announcement was made last week, December 23, 2020, by State Minister for Finance Eyob Tekalign (PhD) and Attorney General Gedion Timothewos (PhD). The Board is set to resume operations while investigations are carried out following the federal government's delisting of 34 companies operating under EFFORT last month. The Board, comprised of seven individuals selected from the public and within the company, will ensure that employees resume their work under the company, following the delisting of the companies, according to Eyob. The individuals were selected based on their professionalism, integrity and political impartiality, according to Eyob. Besides, staff from the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Trade have been included on the Board to lend professional expertise. In parallel with reinstating the company's regular activities, the Board will also focus on rehabilitating and developing Tigray Regional State
