The state owned Ethio telecom has announced the partial resumption of telecommunications services at some areas of the regional state, including Alamata, Humera and Shire. Residents in these towns have been able to make and receive calls beginning yesterday.

The National Bank of Ethiopia (NBE) has announced the resumption of operations by banks in some towns of Tigray Regional State with relative stability. Banks in the towns with security concerns will remain closed, according to a statement from the Bank.
The central bank had ordered the closure of 616 bank branches acorss the regional state on November 8, a few days after an armed conflict broke out between the federal government and the regional state's administration. Central bank officials attributed signs of looting on the banks to their decision. Along with bank closure, basic services, including electricity and telecom, were cut off in the regional state following the outbreak of the conflict. After two weeks of the closure, the central bank has sent a memo to presidents of commercial banks notifying them not to give services to customers whose accounts had been opened in the regional state. The move had created inconveniences on the account holders residing in different parts of the country as thier accounts had been suspended.
International human rights organizations and aid agencies have been urging the government to resume basic services in the regional state.
