The Ethiopian Insurance Corporation (EIC), the state-owned insurance firm, has donated 10 million Br to the newly formed national task force to mobilise resources for emergency preparedness against the spread of the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19).
Netsanet Lemessa, CEO of the EIC, and Attorney General Adanech Abebe, board chairperson of the company, handed the cheque to Muferiat Kamil, minister of Peace. Muferiat serves as the coordinator of the task force, which was formed yesterday by the Council of Ministers.
At this point, more than half a million people have acquired the virus globally and more than 24,000 people have died due to the virus. Ethiopia has confirmed 12 positive cases and reported no deaths or recoveries so far.
