Last week, Ethiopia and Kenya advanced cross-border trade as Trade Minister Kassahun Gofe(PhD) signed an agreement with Kenya’s Cabinet Secretary Lee Kinyanjui. The pact, stemming from April talks in Mombasa, aims to empower small traders, particularly women and youth, by simplifying customs, harmonising documentation, and formalising informal networks. Officials said the framework will create predictable and secure trade, expanding opportunities while promoting sustainable economic activity. The Kenyan delegation’s visit to Ethiopia’s Export Trade Center highlighted a commitment to private–public coordination and strengthened bilateral relations.
