The first ICT village Ethio ICT Park marks the halfway completion of its data III tier centre. Raxio Data Centre Plc, a subsidiary of Raxio Group, is constructing the first private tier III colocation data centre for 20 million dollars. The company plans to deploy the module with a maximum capacity of three megawatts. Raxio incepted the project plan and initial design in late 2019, signing a deal with the Ethiopian Investment Commission. The General Manager Bereket Taffere said the company starts building another centre in Debre Brehan this year, at a panel held at Skylight Hotel (Bole Road). Raxio, a data centre operator, established in 2018, by a US-based investment firm, the Roha Group, has also selected six more countries in Africa to build the system. MKTY IT services plc, under Markos Tilahun, has partnered with Raxio to deploy the solution. The IT service company is responsible for providing hardware equipment and a regulatory framework. According to Markos, cyber security threats, lack of IT infrastructures and resources, and limited regulatory framework can be solved through this technology. ICT Park currently hosts private operators including ZTE, Techno Mobile and Security Innovation Network.
