Health Ministry Project Seeks to Ease Medical Graduate Unemployment

The Ministry of Health has embarked on a project that is hoped to create job opportunities in regional and city administration health bureaus for 6,000 medical graduates. The project is scheduled to last three years and is financed by the Ministry of Finance and donors, including the Buffett Foundation. Nearly 3,000 graduates are expected to enrol in the project over the first year, with 350 million Br in funding. The Health Ministry will head the project for the first three-year phase, while regional and city administrations will be in charge of implementation following that. Medical graduates and professionals have long been protesting the lack of jobs in the field, mainly attributable to a lack of government budget.
