Bank of Abyssinia (BoA) has signed a five-year strategic partnership with Visa, aiming to modernise payment infrastructure, advance a cashless economy, and expand secure, inclusive digital solutions. The agreement, finalised on March 12, 2026, leverages Visa’s global network to provide faster, safer, and more seamless transactions. Sosina Mengesha, BoA’s chief digital banking officer, called the deal a turning point in the bank’s digital transformation, boosting its capacity to serve individuals, businesses, and merchants nationwide. Yared Endale, Visa’s Cluster Head for East Africa, highlighted Ethiopia as a priority market and reaffirmed Visa’s commitment to financial inclusion. The partnership is expected to drive innovation and strengthen the country’s digital economy.
