Agri Shops Establish Input Import Company in Oromia Region

Over 50 agricultural one-stop shops operating in the Oromia Regional State have joined to establish an inputs supplier company with an initial capital of 58 million Br. Dubbed Mariganama Agricultural Services S.C., the company will import and distribute agricultural inputs. A few months back, a similar initiative was kicked off in the Amhara Regional State. A share company named FelegeGhion was established to supply agricultural inputs. The Agricultural Transformation Institute, formerly an Agency, has established close to 190 agricultural one-stop shops in strategic locations to provide inputs and services to farmers at competitive prices and with improved quality. The Agency reports that 3.8 million farmers have accessed inputs and advisory services. The shops have registered 1.6 billion Br in sales. Some 213 million Br in loans was availed to 40 shops and private investments worth 350 million have been made in 186 weredas.
