DStv Adds Local Premier League to its Portfolio

MultiChoice Group’s subsidiary SuperSport has gained exclusive rights to broadcast Ethiopian Premier League matches. The South Africa-based Pan-Africa group of television channels has added Ethiopia under its portfolio of soccer properties to be transmitted on the DStv satellite platform. DStv also broadcasts the Premier Soccer League in South Africa and the Zambian Premier League. The Ethiopian Premier League encompasses 16 football clubs and the broadcast of the League will be across sub-Saharan countries and close islands. The agreement for the broadcast of the show includes building the capacity of local production staff. MultiChoice has been expanding its outreach in terms of consumers in the country with an investment in local content, including the Amharic language channels Nick Junior Amharic, Zee Alem and the local free-to-air channels. It also added eight local television channels to its offerings, including ARTS, Walta and Nahoo.
