An old tree around the Fil Wuha area blocks off the road as the rainy season kicks in. Greenery is one of the top priorities of the current administration, with annual initiatives to plant trees in the name of a legacy. Meanwhile, declining arable land due to acidity and shortage of limestone to treat the land has raised fears of food security compounded by fertiliser delays. An agricultural sector which consumes 70pc of its own produce and comprises 80pc of the labour force does little to soothe the concerns of analysts warning of a food crisis.
