The United States has donated a shipment of monoclonal antibody treatment to Ethiopia to strengthen the country’s response to Marburg virus outbreaks. The handover took place at the Ethiopian Pharmaceutical Supply Service (EPSS), where US Ambassador Ervin Massinga transferred the treatment to State Minister of Health Frehiwot Abebe (MD). Officials said the advanced therapy, which proved effective during the 2024 Marburg outbreak in Rwanda, will be added to the country’s national emergency medical stockpile and deployed under strict clinical protocols.
