Ethiopian, Collins Team Up for Maintenance Service

Ethiopian Airlines and Collins Aerospace signed a partnership agreement covering maintenance of the US manufacturer’s air management systems, heat exchangers and fuel metering units on De Havilland Canada Q400 turboprops. Group CEO of Ethiopian Airlines Tewolde Gebremariam signed the 25-year deal valued at 500 million dollars at the Paris air show. Ethiopian will establish third-party component maintenance capabilities under an aftermarket support agreement with Collins Aerospace. Ethiopian’s technical division will repair the components for its Q400 fleet and support the equipment for other African operators on Collins Aerospace’s behalf, said the manufacturer’s aftermarket services president, Ajay Agrawal, in an interview with Flightglobal. Cerium’s Fleets Analyzer shows that Ethiopian has 18 Q400s in service and has orders for another 10.
