Stretching from about four kilometres from the Grand Palace down to Urael Church, Cazanchis still reflect Addis Abeba's soon-to-be-forgotten swinging jazz days. It was a place of pubs and clubs, with the upbeat vitality of its residents. It is changing fast. Homes built seven decades ago give way to luxury hotels and up-scale apartment buildings that tell no story of how things used to be.
