The Addis Abeba City cabinet has approved 310 million Br in subsidies to Sheger Bread Factory. Constructed in partnership with MIDROC Investment Group's Horizon Plantation, the Factory has been struggling with a shortage of wheat after going operational one and a half years ago. It is now utilising way below half of its production capacity. It was constructed with the intent of supplying two million loaves of bread to the capital every day, hoped to slowdown the inflationary pressure haunting residents. However, most of its stores, housed in old buses sourced from the Anbessa City Bus Enterprise, were closed because of the shortage.
