The government of Germany has donated the last batch of 1.4 million Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) test kits to the Africa Centres for Disease Control & Prevention (Africa-CDC) through the African Union. The donation will be distributed to African Union member states. The delivery was made through the European Union Humanitarian Air Badge flight as part of the European Union global response to the pandemic. The response plan has over 26 million euros allocated for the fight against the pandemic. It aims to provide direct support for the implementation of the Africa Joint Continental Strategy for COVID-19 Outbreak and the Partnership to Accelerate COVID-19 Testing in all parts of the continent. Europe in collaboration with the African CDC is deploying rapid responders and community health workers in-country and virtually.
