RIDE Increases Service Fees Amid Strategic Changes

RIDE, a leading ride-hailing service provider, has announced an increase in its baseline service fee from 100 to 130 Br, effective October 7, 2024. The decision comes as part of a strategic plan to implement monthly price hikes over the next nine months. The charge per kilometre is unchanged at 16 Br despite the duration price increasing from 2.50 to 3 Br per minute. The company stated the changes were made after consultations with stakeholders. Its main competitor in the market, FERES, has kept its flag-down fare of 100 Br, alongside a rate per kilometre of 16 birr and duration charge of one Birr per minute. In a bid to support its drivers, RIDE has partnered with Ovid Real Estate to develop Ride Village in Ovid Gelan Gurra City, offering discounted housing options for drivers.
