Ministry Temporarily Suspends Speed Limiter Requirement

The Ministry of Transport & Logistics has temporarily suspended the requirement imposed on new imported vehicles to install speed limiters in order to attain a license plate. In its statement last week, the Ministry stated the requirement is halted until it conducts a study to identify the type of vehicles that need speed limiters and misuses exhibited in the operation. However, vehicle owners will be required to sign an agreement obliging them to install speed limiters whenever it is required. The directive was first issued three years ago and has gone under amendment last year.
