Ethiopia obtained 238 million dollars from the export of manufactured goods during the first half of the fiscal year, according to the Ministry of Industry. The figure is 27pc higher than revenues recorded over the same period last year. Officials at the Ministry say the earnings are 90pc of the target, with 35 million dollars registered in the sixth month alone. The performance sees manufacturing rise to third on the list of sectors with the highest export revenues. Agriculture remains at the top, accounting for well over half of the 1.89 billion dollars in earnings reported thus far this year. Mining follows as a distant second.
