Ethiopian Airlines, the country’s only local carrier, has suspended flights to four destinations in the country citing security issues.
Flights to Gonder, Meqelle, Shire and Axum have been suspended until further notice, Fortune confirmed.
This followed Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD) ordering the Defense Forces to launch a military offensive against forces in Tigray Regional State. Network and telephone lines have also been disconnected in the Regional State today.
