Commodity Transaction Hits 2.9b Br

The Ethiopian Commodity Exchange (ECX) traded 2.9 billion Br worth of commodities in July 2019. Coffee took top billing in volume and value, followed by sesame, soya beans and white pea beans. ECX transacted  5,817tn of sesame for 320.2 million Br and 11,273tn of soya beans for 170.2 million Br. It also transacted 1,765tn of white pea beans for 35.5 million Br and 28tn of green pea beans for 792,000 Br. ECX transacted 20,326tn of unwashed coffee for export with a value of 1.5 billion Br. Meanwhile, it traded 5,923tn of unwashed coffee for the local market at 364.9 million Br. The value shows an increase of seven percent compared to the same period last year. It transacted a total of 32,291tn of washed and unwashed coffee in July.
