Awash Launches Electronic Outlets

Awash Bank executives inaugurated three virtual branches in Addis Abeba and Adama (Nazareth) cities last week. Most banking services including statement printing, creating an account, cardless transactions and foreign currency exchanges are facilitated through digital branches in Getu Commercial Centre on Africa Avenue and Bisrate Gebreal area. While assistance is provided through video chat with access to call centres, the branches work round the clock. Teshay Shiferaw, President of Awash Bank indicated that two more stations are under construction in the capital with concurrent progress on developing branches located in Jima, Dire Dewa, Hawassa and Arba Minch cities.

Cabinet Approves Public Service Legislation

Council of Ministers has unanimously approved the legislation that aims to raise the competency and professionalism of public service in the country. The Federal Civil Servants Proclamation is pending ratification from Parliament.
