Authority Invests 46m Br to Reduce Accidents

Oromia Transport Authority launched a new digital driving license service with a cost of 46 million Br. The Authority launched the system to reduce accidents caused by drivers with a forged driving license, according to Mehiret Shanqo, (Prof), director of the Authority. The Authority has procured 14 printing machine that has a capacity of printing two identification cards within a minute. The printers were distributed to seven Oromia Regional Centers and more than 600,000 digital cards are ready. Over 3,000 different detecting tools were also distributed to traffic police to identify fake license. Additionally, the Authority has begun procurement of equipment with eight million Birr to upgrade the transport system.

Cabinet Approves Public Service Legislation

Council of Ministers has unanimously approved the legislation that aims to raise the competency and professionalism of public service in the country.
