The 42-year-old CEO is married and has three children. Nigus studied economics at Addis Abeba University and attended another undergraduate programme in business administration & information systems in the School of Commerce. He also completed a master’s degree programme in development economics at Saint Mary's University and obtained an MBA from Lead Star University College of Ashland University in the USA. He did yet gain another master's degree in social work from Addis Abeba University. He also obtained an advanced diploma from the Chartered Insurance Institute in London. He has worked for more than 24 years in the insurance industry, including 11 years at the Ethiopian Insurance Corporation. He also worked at United and Abay Insurance companies for more than eight years. It has been more than three years since he joined Nile Insurance, where he has been serving as the CEO for the past two years.
What is your biggest fear?
The possibility of national disintegration and state collapse
What was the brand of your first ever mobile phone?
The unbreakable Nokia, but I don’t exactly remember the model
Which animal do you hate the most?
Which social media platform do you use most frequently?
I rarely check Facebook
What bill surprised you the most? What was it for and what was the cost?
I am extremely careful in terms of expenditure, so I don’t get surprised at all
How long do you spend on your phone?
I usually do not want to spend more than five minutes on a single call. But since I have to make and receive between 40 and 50 calls a day, I spend three to four hours every day.
Which foreign meal/food did you not like after tasting it?
I am very reserved when it comes to food. I don’t want to eat anything different from what I am used to.
Where do you want to go on earth before you die?
Jerusalem
What is your biggest regret?
I don’t really have any regrets. I only do what I really want to.
If you got a chance to have dinner with a prominent person, with whom would you choose to have that supper?
Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD). I missed the opportunity to attend the state dinner he hosted for the Beautifying Sheger project.
