Authority Kicks off Warder Qebrihadar Road Project

The Ethiopian Roads Authority kicked off the construction of the 1.8-billion-Br Warder Qebrihadar road project yesterday, October 12, 2019. The project kick-off ceremony was attended by Mustafa Omer, deputy administrator of Ethiopia's Somali Regional State, and Habtamu Tegenge, director-general of the Authority. Macro General Contractor & Trading, a local construction company, was awarded to construct the 138.8Km asphalt road, which is expected to be completed in four years. Best Consulting Engineers and Hitech Consulting will jointly supervise the construction of the project. The cost of the project will be covered by the government of Ethiopia. The road will have a 21.5m width in zones, 19m in woredasand 12m in kebeleareas. It will also have a 10m width in rural areas. Upon completion, the road is expected to cut the three hours it currently takes to travel from Warder to Qebrihadar in half.
