Awash Bank has pledged financial support for the construction of 10 sanitation facilities at different public schools. The project will be implemented through Amref Health Africa at selected governmental schools in Addis Abeba. Githinji Gitahi (PhD), CEO of Amref Health Africa, and Yohannes Merga, acting CEO of Awash Bank, signed the agreement last week. The project is expected to improve sustainable and equitable access to sanitation facilities for more than 20,000 students. The intervention also planned to address the sanitation and hygiene problems of school children in their school setting, thereby contributing to the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Amref Health Africa, headquartered in Kenya, is one of the African based international non-governmental organisations currently running programmes in over 35 countries in Africa.
