Road Fund Bags 2.9b Br in Revenue

The Ethiopian Road Fund Office has collected 2.9 billion Br in revenue in the past fiscal year. The revenue was collected from the road fund, tariffs on lubricants, oil and petroleum, vehicle license renewal fees and from the procurement of treasury bills. Out of the total revenue, the Office collected 2.7 billion Br from tariffs of fuel. The office also maintained over 21,625Km of roads, 80pc of its plan, spending 1.7 billion Br. Out of the maintained roads, 14,825Km and 12,068Km are roads in regional states and roads built by the Ethiopian Roads Authority, respectively. The remaining maintained roads are in regional states. It also hired a consultant for road maintenance and road safety measure work for four road projects in the past fiscal year. The Office is working on the preparation of the tender documentation to hire six companies for the maintenance of the road. In the reported period, the Office settled 501 outstanding payment requests. Ethiopian Road Fund Office is a governmental office that was established in 1997 by a private-public partnership, to serve as a financial platform for road maintenance and Road Safety measures in Ethiopia.
