ECX Monthly Transactions Hit 2.4b Br

The Ethiopian Commodity Exchange traded 2.4 billion Br worth of commodities in June 2019. Coffee took the lion’s share of trading with 26,137tn exchanging hands, 58pc of overall volume, and its value accounted for 76pc of the ECX’s total. Soybeans took second place with a traded volume of 11,409tn, which traded for 177.2 million Br. Most of that coffee was exported. For the local market, ECX traded 5,449tn of coffee worth 328.9 million Br. The amount of coffee traded on the floor has increased by 22pc in revenue and 18pc in volume compared to the same period last year. ECX  traded 1,728tn of white beans amounting to 35.5 million Br. Compared to the same period last year, the figure shows a decrease in volume of 24pc but registered a 1.4pc increase in value.
