Berhane Demissie, co-founder and managing partner of Cepheus Growth Capital Partners, has been appointed to the Global Partnership for Ethiopia (GPE) Board, becoming the second Ethiopian to serve after Ermias Eshetu. GPE is the consortium behind Safaricom Ethiopia. Demissie brings more than two decades of experience in private equity, investment management, corporate finance and risk management in Ethiopia and the United Kingdom. The appointment was approved during the GPE Board's two-day meeting at Safaricom Ethiopia's headquarters in Addis Abeba. Board members present represented Vodacom Group, Safaricom Group, Vodafone, Sumitomo, British International Investment, IFC, and Safaricom Ethiopia. Berhane holds a BSc from the University of Greenwich, a Diploma of Imperial College (DIC), and a Master of Business Administration from Imperial College London. Her academic background combines UK-based training in business and finance with practical expertise that she later applied in Ethiopia’s private equity and investment sectors.
