The Ethiopian Commodity Exchange (ECX) plans to move all of its operations to a new headquarters in the Leghar area at the start of the Ethiopian New Year, ending 18 years at the rented Cheleleqe Building on Mexico Chad Street. The 24-storey headquarters is being built on a 3,600sqm plot at an estimated cost of two billion Birr. ECX says it will begin delivering all services from the new premises when the new year begins, while construction of the building is expected to be completed within two years. The move comes as the commodity exchange expands its operations and modernises its trading infrastructure. ECX has been undergoing a broader transformation that includes the introduction of a digital trading platform and a new corporate identity. The new headquarters is expected to accommodate trading operations and a research centre, according to ECX.
