Digaf Microcredit Provider S.Co, a digital-first microfinance provider in Ethiopia, has signed a strategic partnership agreement with AlHuda Centre of Islamic Banking & Economics (AlHuda CIBE) to support the development of Digaf's interest-free digital microfinance initiative. The agreement was signed during the 6th International Interest-Free Banking & Takaful Forum held in Addis Ababa, where Digaf participated as a Technology Sponsor.

Under the partnership, AlHuda CIBE will serve as an independent Sharia advisory partner, supporting Digaf in establishing a separate Interest-Free Microfinance Division and developing Sharia-compliant digital financial products and services, subject to applicable regulatory requirements and Sharia governance principles.

The initiative will combine Digaf's digital-first microfinance capabilities with AlHuda CIBE's Sharia advisory expertise, with the aim of expanding access to innovative and inclusive financial services for underserved communities, entrepreneurs, and micro and small enterprises in Ethiopia.

Digaf was represented at the forum by its Chief Financial Officer, Mr. Abiy Tamirat, who participated as a panelist in discussions on the development of interest-free financial services, technology and innovation. He also received a certificate of recognition for his contribution as a panelist.

Digaf was additionally recognized for Product Innovation, highlighting its continued focus on developing customer-centered and technology-enabled financial solutions. The partnership marks an important step in Digaf's strategy to broaden access to innovative digital financial services in Ethiopia. By combining technology, responsible financial innovation and independent Sharia advisory support, Digaf aims to explore accessible interest-free financial solutions that respond to the needs of individuals and businesses while contributing to Ethiopia's evolving financial ecosystem.
