Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD) has inaugurated new solar manufacturing factories and a gas plant at the Hawassa Industrial Park. The facilities include Toyo Phase 2, Origin and Lumintech solar factories, with a combined annual production capacity of 11.3GW of solar energy. The output is expected to support the national grid and meet growing industrial power demand. Speaking at the launch in Sidama Regional State, the Prime Minister said the projects go beyond energy production, describing them as drivers of broader economic transformation and job creation. He also inaugurated the HZ Gas plant, which will produce 900 tons of oxygen, 40,000 tonnes of nitrogen and seven tons of hydrogen annually.
