Wingu Africa Introduces Integrated Cloud Platform for Computing, Storage, Security Services

Wingu Africa has launched first Cloud Exchange called Wingu Cloud Exchange (WCX), at the Addis Abeba University last week targeting businesses operating in Ethiopia and the wider region. The platform integrates core cloud functions, including computing, storage, container management, and security, within a single system. The service is designed to allow enterprises to scale operations based on demand while maintaining predictable pricing in local currency. This approach is intended to reduce exposure to foreign exchange fluctuations and additional service charges. The platform is also intended to improve service delivery through reduced latency and locally optimised infrastructure. According to Wingu Africa, businesses using WCX can benefit from faster access to applications, improved operational efficiency, and technical support based within the local market. Demos Kyriacou, Deputy CEO, Chief Operating Officer and Co-founder of Wingu Africa, said WCX represents a significant development for businesses in Africa, adding that the company is delivering cloud solutions designed to meet local requirements for security, compliance, and scalability. He also stated that the platform is intended to contribute to improving digital infrastructure in the region and support transition toward a digitally enabled economy. WCX provides a suite of services such as Wingu Compute, Wingu Kubernetes, Wingu Drive, and Wingu Security. These tools enable businesses to deploy, manage, and secure applications across different environments. The platform is also structured to integrate with existing on-premises infrastructure and operate alongside global cloud providers such as Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services, offering hybrid deployment options.
