The Ethiopian Customs Commission reported that alleged contraband goods worth more than 820 million Br were confiscated during inspections in the first week of March. Of the total, 796.9 million Br came from imports and 23.8 million Br from exports, intercepted across multiple branch offices. Jigjiga led the seizures with 231 million Br, followed by Awash with 128 million Br and Moyale with 112 million Br. Confiscated items included textiles, electronics, coffee, cereals, vehicle parts, cosmetics, khat, narcotics, medicines, minerals, livestock, and foreign currencies. The operation also resulted in the arrest of five suspects and the seizure of two vehicles used to transport the goods.
