The International Labour Organisation (ILO) launched a project aimed at strengthening inter-regional cooperation for safe, regular, and orderly labour migration in Ethiopia. The project is being implemented with financial support from the European Union. The project launching ceremony, held last week at the Hyatt Regency Hotel, disclosed that the initiative seeks to enhance institutional capacity, professionalise recruitment practices, strengthen the protection of migrant workers’ rights, and improve skills development and recognition. The project will also work to strengthen bilateral and multilateral cooperation and improve labour migration data systems. It is jointly overseen by the ILO and the Ministry of Labor & Skills, with a particular focus on strengthening regular employment opportunities for skilled and semi-skilled workers.
