Over 700,763tns of fertiliser have arrived at the ports of Djibouti, according to the Ministry of Transport & Logistics. Officials have confirmed that more than 90pc of this shipment has already been successfully transported inland, ensuring timely distribution for the upcoming agricultural season. They anticipate importing a total of 2.4 million tons of fertiliser this year, with nearly half a million tons consisting of Diammonium Phosphate (DAP). This year, the federal government has allocated 1.3 billion dollars for the procurement of DAP and urea fertilisers. Last year subsidies amounting to 15 billion Br have surged to 84 billion Br, noting the government’s focus on agricultural productivity.
