Ethio Telecom Bids to Dominate Ethiopia's Digital Future

An array of services from digital livestock tracking, push-to-talk/video communications to cloud-based banking, an education management system (EMS), and enterprise resource Planning (ERP) are available from the state-owned Ethio telecom. Ethio telecom has introduced seven new cloud-based digital services last week at the Skylight Hotel, on Africa Avenue (Bole Road), pledging to transform business operations, financial services, and education management. The company said that these solutions will help organisations cut costs, improve efficiency, and grow without investing heavily in physical IT infrastructure. The One-Office Collaboration tool helps teams manage tasks and store files within a shared workspace, while the Cloud-Based Contact Centre integrates phone calls, messages, and social media interactions into one platform. According to its CEO, Frehiwot Tamiru, the new services are expected to enhance digital connectivity and simplify operations for enterprises and institutions. “Customers can choose from various service packages based on their needs,” she said during the launch. The digital livestock tracking system allows farmers to monitor their animals in real-time using GPS and digital tags, a step the company’s executives believe will reduce theft and make it easier for farmers to access loans and insurance. The push-to-talk/video system offers secure, instant communication that replaces traditional two-way radios, a feature designed to serve security firms, logistics companies, and emergency teams. The cloud-based banking system targets microfinance institutions (MFIs) and savings cooperatives by enabling them to manage customer accounts, loans, and transactions more efficiently. The education management system is a cloud-based platform that handles enrollment, student records, fee payments, and communication between teachers, students, and parents, which Ethio telecom said will modernise school administration and improve the learning experience.
