Agency Moves to Digitise Kebele Services

A digital Kebele app that aspires to replace manual services in the issuance, renewals and replacement of residency IDs, is set to be unveiled as the Civil Registration & Residency Service Agency (CRRSA) has onboarded the services of Israeli company PANGEA and local company Total Tech Solutions Provider (TTSP) for a six-month project. Under the supervision of the Addis Abeba Innovation & Technology Development Bureau, the project was launched at Hyatt Regency on Bole Rd last week. Yonas Alemayehu, director of the Agency, underscores the project's role in helping avoid identity fraud, theft and data leaks through the encrypted system. He said only one in 10 children receive birth certificates in Ethiopia due to the lack of access and reach. "A digital foundation will help accelerate development policy," he said. The digital infrastructure had already been built by partnering with Ethio telecom. Solomon Amare, project head under the Bureau, said it goes in line with the plan to transform an eight-year smart city road map.
