Welcoming Dance

A public diplomacy delegation from Eritrea arrived in Addis Abeba, at Bole Airport, on Thursday, February 14, 2019. They were received by an Ethiopian dance and song group that performed Ethiopian cultural songs. The delegation will tour the country and play in different cities. The economic and cultural relationship between Ethiopia and Eritrea has been gaining ground over the past few months after a state of ‘no war, no peace’ for almost a decade.

In its sagging frame, the fence tells a story of compromise between order and habit, of city planning meeting human impatience. It is a small rebellion against rigid design, a reminder that the pulse of the city often beats in the spac...

The machine tears into otherwise smooth asphalt, leaving a temporary scar on a well-served road. Pedestrians flinch at the grinding noise, drivers sigh, yet beneath the disruption, silent wires quietly stitch the city's connectivity together also hinting the unpredictable plan changes of the city design...
