Ethiopia on the Fast Track to Air Cargo Integration

Ethiopia hosts a two-day meeting of the International Federation of Freight Forwarders Association (FIATA) airfreight institute in an effort to identify tangible strategies to integrate into the global air cargo program at the Skylight Hotel, Airport Road. The meeting brings 10 members of the institute to the capital hosted by the Association Chairperson Dawit Woubishet. FIATA is an international organisation representing freight forwarders and logistics providers in over 150 countries. Dawit who is also the vice president of the Ethiopian Freight Forwarders & Shipping Agents Association (EFFSAA) said the meeting is expected to ensure joint governance that reflects the current commercial standing for both freight forwarders and airline carriers. He said the association is looking forward to hosting the 2026 annual FIATA Congress celebrating the 100th anniversary. Stéphane Graber (PhD), director general of FIATA, made his first visit to Ethiopia to attend the meeting that seeks to build on previous Cargo Agency Modernisation Program (CAMP) achievements. He observes that the work of FIATA is bringing standards to build logistics and standardising the capacity building of members. He recommended the Association work on digitisation sharing the FIATA's experience that saved 6.5 billion dollars.
