A second round initiation to provide free medical checkups for 1.2 million vulnerable residents was launched by the Ministry of Health last week. The program is kicked off at St. Paul Hospital, Swaziland Street, and will include providing diagnosis, clinical aid, and blood donations. State Minister for Health Dereje Duguma (MD) said the first round of the program managed to reach over one million citizens giving the Ministry additional momentum in moving towards better and sustainable coverage over the past few years. The program will be applicable in all regional states and federal health facilities for the coming two months. A study conducted by Abreha WoldeMichael on the accessibility of primary healthcare in Ethiopia, notes the unaffordability and unequal distribution of facilities have been impeding citizens from getting medical assistance. Metasebiya Mesfin (MD), CEO of the Hospital, said endeavours of such sort will play a vital role in fostering preventive mechanisms and building resilient links between healthcare facilities and society.
