Education Authority Bans 69 Schools from Registration

Close to 69 schools that did not meet the standards were temporarily banned from registering students for the coming academic year. Every couple of years, the Authority inspects the 1,558 private schools in the capital to ensure they align with the requirements, including adequate staff members and compound area. Signed by Fikerte Abera, deputy head of the Addis Abeba Education & Training Quality Regulatory Authority, the letter reveals that the institutions did not meet the criteria they were inspected for, indicating that the ban stands until further notice. It was dispatched to the eight branches of the Authority last week to monitor the primary and secondary schools across the eight districts of Addis Abeba with a 60-74pc average score.
