Ministry Pledges to Support Tigray Regional State

The revitalization of public services in the Tigray Regional State was discussed between officials of the Ministry of Finance and the Interim Administration last week. Semereta Sewasew, the state minister made a visit to the regional state to hold consultive meetings with officials concerning budget, infrastructure and social projects revitalizations. The interim administration had called for urgent budget assistance since the region is not generating any income, and special support is needed to address the gap. At the consultive meeting, the two officials discussed the redemption of the regional state's economy and the urgency of financial assistance. The Ministry has allocated more than 45 million dollars for emergency recoveries in the region while public procurement and emergency activities were also discussed. As Ethiopia emerges from one of the deadliest conflicts in recent history which claimed an estimated million lives, highlighted the importance of a comprehensive implementation for long-term peace and stability. With the pandemic and the civil war, low economic growth has become an additional burden on the economy in the past three years.
