Ethio-jazz has been embraced by many contemporary musicians, both within Ethiopia and beyond its borders. A unique blend of traditional Ethiopian melodies, Western jazz, and Latin rhythms, it first emerged in the late 1960s and early 1970s. Since then, the live music industry has grown rapidly, reaching a height in Addis Abeba's nightlife. From African Jazz Village to the heart of the Kazanchis area, titans are reclaiming their thrones, while new performers have the task of matching the enthusiasm.
