Germany Provides 500m Br in IT Support

The German government has provided information communications technology (ICT) equipment valued at half a billion Birr as part of efforts to improve vocational schools in the country. The equipment was received last week by Muferiat Kamil, minister of Labour & Skills. The donation is to be distributed to 20 technical vocational education & training (TVET) institutes across the country. Last year, the federal agency in charge of supervising TVET institutes introduced changes to the curriculum. It lengthened the period required to complete a first degree programme by a year to four years. Trainees can enroll in fields such as automotive engineering, construction, electronics, ICT, manufacturing technology, railway engineering, and surveying technology at the TVET institutes.
