Health professionals have administered over 47 million doses of various COVID-19 vaccines since the Ministry of Health began its first jab campaign last April. Over 15 million doses were administered over the past couple of weeks after health officials revamped efforts to inoculate the public against the virus. People aged 12 and older are eligible for the vaccinations. The campaign includes the Chinese-made Sinopharm jab, as well as doses from AstraZeneca and Johnson & Johnson. Close to 39 million people have been vaccinated thus far, according to the Ministry. Nearly 483,000 cases and over 7,500 deaths have been recorded since the virus was first detected in the country in March 2020.
