The Easter Exhibition & Bazaar kicked off last week at the Addis Abeba Exhibition Centre. Around 500 businesses have rented space at the event, which is schedule to last three weeks. The Exhibition Centre & Market Development Enterprise, a public company under the city administration, organises the bazaar. This is the second time the public enterprise has been forced to take organisation into its own hands, following a default by Betahon Special Events Plc to host two exhibitions. The company, a newcomer to the event industry, had offered 111 million Br to host the Christmas and Easter exhibitions before failing to make payments. The Enterprise terminated the contracts and took up the challenge on its own.
