Revenues Ministry Bags 221b Br in Eight Months

The Ministry of Revenues reports it has collected more than 221 billion Br over the first eight months of the financial year. The figure is around eight percent lower than the 240 billion Br its officials had targeted for the period. Domestic taxes accounted for 131 billion Br, while customs duties and taxes on international trade brought in 90 billion Br. The performance is a 16pc increase from revenues collected over the same period last year. The federal government plans to raise 334 billion Br from taxes and duties this year. The Ministry has been expanding an online tax payment platform introduced last year. Taxpayers can declare revenues and settle their taxes remotely and at their convenience.
