Three companies leasing space in Kombolcha Industrial Park, located 380Km north of Addis Abeba in the Amhara Regional State, have begun shipping their products abroad. The armed conflict between federal forces and armed groups based in Tigray Regional State had spread to the area late last year, causing over five million dollars worth of losses to the companies. However, the situation has stabilised and the factories are operating at full capacity. Kombolcha Industrial Park is one of 13 operated by the Industrial Parks Development Corporation (IPDC). It has created employment opportunities for over 3,000 workers, around 90pc of whom have returned to work following the disruption caused by the fighting. The manufacturers in Kombolcha Industrial Park obtained 3.9 million dollars from exports over the first quarter of the fiscal year.
