An aircraft carrying medical supplies from the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and the Ministry of Health landed in Meqelle, capital of Tigray Regional State, last week. The flight delivered essential drugs, such as insulin, hemodialysis, oxytocin, tetanus toxoid, gloves and surgical material to health facilities. It was the 10th such flight conducted by the ICRC since January 26, 2022. The deliveries come as the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UN-OCHA) warns it it may be forced to cease its humanitarian operation in Tigray because supplies are running out. An estimated 5.2 million people in the region are in need of humanitarian aid.
